1940 - 1949
The Maine Seacoast Missionary Society (now Maine Seacoast Mission) commissioned a ship named Sunbeam in 1912. The ship brought books, supplies, church services, pastoral care, health care, and vaccinations to Maine islands, lighthouses, and the isolated coastal communities of Hancock and Washington counties. Subsequent ships for the Society have borne the same name.
