SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY AND CONNECT WITH SIGMA KAPPAS
Sigma Kappa's annual Day of Service is coming up on April 22. Members are encouraged to get
out in their communities and demonstrate our value of service, either individually or with others.
If you'd like to join with other Sigma Kappas to give your time on Day of Service, several alumnae
chapters have organized events that any member can participate in. Click here for a current list of
events, and don't forget to tag Sigma Kappa and use the hashtag #SKServes in your Day of
Service social media posts!
SIGMA KAPPA BOOK EXCHANGE
Share the gift of reading with a sister! The Book Exchange is a virtual event that allows you to
meet another member and spread friendship across the world through a shared love of Sigma
Kappa and books. The sign-up deadline is Monday, May 15, and books need to be purchased
and exchanged by May 31. You do not need to be a member of the Book Club to participate, but
everyone is welcome to join! Find more information and register here. For questions, reach out to
Heather Corbitt, alumnae experience coordinator.
GET INVOLVED AS AN ALUMNA
Sigma Kappa has many ways to connect with other alumnae and support collegiate chapters after
graduation. Local alumnae chapters, collegiate corporation boards and collegiate advisory boards
would love for you to join!
Looking to
Join a local alumnae chapter? Search local chapters here. You can also email your district
ADD at ADD#@sigmakappa.org with your name and the area where you reside for contact
information to the group closest to you! Please check out the chapter map to locate your
district if you are unsure.
Get involved with a collegiate chapter corporation board? Update your profile on
sigmakappa.org and indicate your interest in supporting a corporation board here.
Mentor a collegiate officer? Join an advisory board! We have roles of every size and time
commitment, both remote and local. Please fill out the advisory board volunteer interest form
here. Email DCMT@sigmakappa.org with any questions.
Facilitate with collegiate chapters? The Live with Heart Facilitator Team is now
accepting applications! This is a group of skilled alumnae members with expertise in
engaging facilitation and communication with college-aged learners. Focus areas include
wellness, preventative risk management, relationships, DEIA, empowerment and
personal/professional development. If you are interested in joining this team please update
your volunteer interest form and indicate your interest in being a 2023-2024 LWHF!
SISTER TO SISTER DISASTER RECOVERY FUND
In 2022, the Sigma Kappa Foundation supported 14 members with just over $44,000 in
emergency grants, including two Sister to Sister Disaster Recovery Fund Grants. If you, or a
member you know, becomes financially distressed due to a U.S. Presidentially declared natural
disaster or emergency, the Sister to Sister Disaster Recovery Fund Grant is available. Please note,
grants are limited to our members and do not extend to their families. With tornadoes, wildfires
and hurricanes occurring more frequently and for months on end, we never know when the need
for this support will arise. Applications are accepted for up to six months following the Presidential
declaration. Click here to learn more about Sigma Kappa Foundation grants.
The Foundation recognizes the bold commitment of our donors whose support has enabled the
grants program. Those who are able to support sisters in crisis through this critical grant program
are also vitally important - click here to donate today!
OPEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Personnel Committee
If you are an HR professional looking to get involved in Sigma Kappa, we have a great opportunity
for you. The Personnel Committee is responsible for leading the application review, interview and
candidate selection process for all vacant Sorority national volunteer positions. The committee
makes recommendations to national council for all volunteer appointments. Please update your
volunteer interest form to apply, and email Paige Haas, director of volunteer engagement, with
questions.
Foundation Collegiate Philanthropy Coordinator
Collegiate philanthropy coordinator (CPC) positions are available in each of the eight districts. In
partnership with Foundation district directors (FDD) and staff, the CPC supports all philanthropic
efforts of their assigned collegiate chapters, primarily working with the vice president of
philanthropic service (VPPS) and the philanthropic engagement advisor (PEA). This role is not
intended to replace the local advisor but offers an additional resource who can answer global
Foundation and philanthropic questions about fundraising and submitting proceeds, academic
scholarship and emergency grants, and the Walk to End Alzheimer's. If you have 3-5 hours per
month and want to be part of our energetic team, please contact Teresa John. Click here for a job
design.
