[FROM THE ARCHIVES]
"As we start the second century, let us take a minute to think back to our Founders, the reasons they started our
sorority, their principles, their dreams and their hopes. Have we carried on as they had planned? I doubt if any of
the five Founders could have visualized what our sorority would be today. Could we have 25 years ago? Or 50
years ago? It takes all of us to help carry on our beloved sorority so it will expand and withstand the problems of
the second century."

recruitment team would like to remind chapters and volunteers about our new partnership with
the recruitment voting platform MyVote. Video trainings and additional resources are available on
The Learning Center under Recruitment Resources > Recruitment Training. Additionally, MyVote
support can be contacted via support@techniphi.com. We are excited for this fresh new take on
recruitment!
Also new this recruitment season, the Alzheimer's Association is offering recruitment kits with
Walk to End Alzheimer's/Alzheimer's Association materials that you can use as centerpieces,
decorations, or resources during recruitment and fundraising events.
We will soon be launching a Recruitment Social Media Guide on The Learning Center complete
with content examples, best practices, and more! More information to come soon!

TOGETHER WE CAN
The Sigma Kappa Foundation is grateful to our loyal donors whose generosity allows us to help
sisters in need, inspire leaders, provide scholarships, and make our members' dreams come true.
"Sigma Kappa has provided me with sisterhood for life; I didn't realize this grant was available
until a sister recommended it. Having Hurricane Ida destroy our home was horrific, but having my
sisterhood stand with me to rebuild is priceless. Thank you Sigma Kappa!"
-Gabrielle DeBaene Birdrow, Zeta Omega, Louisiana State University, Sister to Sister Disaster
Recovery Fund grant recipient
The Sigma Kappa Foundation awarded the following Emergency Grants June 1, 2021-May 31,
2022:
Four Collegiate Emergency grants
Five Alumnae Heart Fund grants
One Sister to Sister grant
$43,100 grant awards total

TOGETHER WE DID!
Attendees surpassed five fundraising goals at the Sigma Kappa convention this summer - each in
the name of a founding member. These Founders' Challenges were met through participation by
both collegians and alumnae, seeking brand new donors, new recurring gifts and striving to raise
$50,000 to completely underwrite the next Careerhouse program. And boy, did our sisters pull
through! Eighty first-time donors gave with heart, and more than 75 new recurring gifts were
established.
If you did not attend convention and would like to support the Founders' Challenge, funding
scholarship, leadership and philanthropic initiatives, we invite you to make a donation here.
FOUNDATION AWARDS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
One important way the Foundation supports the Sigma Kappa experience is through academic
scholarships. For the 2022-2023 academic year, 92 members were awarded more than $136,500
to support undergraduate and graduate learning. With the establishment of new scholarships each
year, we are so grateful to our chapters and individual members who continue to help the
scholarship program grow and flourish.
WE WANT YOU!
The Sigma Kappa Foundation is currently accepting emails of interest from those wanting to serve
in the collegiate philanthropy coordinator (CPC) role. In partnership with Foundation district
directors (FDD) and staff, the CPC supports all philanthropic efforts of their assigned collegiate
chapters, primarily working with the vice president of philanthropic service (VPPS) officer and the
philanthropic engagement advisor (PEA). This role is not intended to replace the local advisor, but
offers an additional resource who can answer global Foundation and philanthropic questions. If
you have event planning or non-profit experience, or a passion for the work of the Foundation,
please reach out. Or, if you know of someone who may be a good fit, please suggest they send an
email to Teresa John by Friday, August 5. A job description and more information can be found
on the Sigma Kappa website.
